Citylets an Edinburgh based property portal for Scotland and Northern Ireland wanted a solution to the age old problem facing estate and letting agents: How do you let a potential tenant know when a property that matches their requirements comes on to the market?
On a site as busy as Citylets potential tenants needed to be notified as soon as a property that matches their criteria became available or they would often miss the property or simply not return to the site. What was required was a method of alerting users when a property that matches criteria set by them has appeared on the market.
Citylets integrated a elertz into their websites search system. This created a custom channel for potential tenants to have relevant information sent to them. Users simply go about searching for properties in the normal way. They can then optionally subscribe to a customer elertz channel. Part of the process is to download the lightweight Adobe client which delivers the property notifications directly to their desktop.

This ‘Set and forget’ approach to house hunting has significant benefits to the potential tenants as it reverses the house hunting process. Now tenants find available properties come to them both online whilst they are using their computer and off line (via SMS). This has had a two fold benefit; firstly tenants have a more interactive and accurate service and secondly the increase in customer retention has made the Citylets portal a more attractive proposition for landlords. The tracking features of elertz has enable Citylets to more effectively bill their affiliates which has seen an increase in revenue.
